  PROJECT FUNDING  
     
 
  • “The Golden Face of Ghana” Project will be funded by fund raising and contributions in cash and kind through various mechanisms including the following: “Travel Ghana Raffle”, Tourism Trade Partners Endowment Fund, Donor Community Assistance, Corporate Sponsorships and Media Partnerships

  • “The Travel Ghana Raffle”: This “win-win” international raffle is a tourism promotional campaign for Ghana and primarily targeted at workplace colleagues and friends of Ghanaians as well as Ghanaians living abroad. It is to give a life time “Golden Experience” opportunities for people across the globe to visit Ghana while they contribute to the heritage and cultural tourism development of a great African nation that was unfortunately at the center of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, European exploratory and missionary travels for 500 years.

  • The raffle will be drawn yearly for all coupons and the first group of winners will be the august guests of the tourism fraternity for an all inclusive 10-day holiday in March 2007 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of Ghana’s Independence and 200 years of The Abolition of Slave Trade. There will be other exciting prizes.

  • Raffle tickets will be obtained on the internet at www.gattagh.com as well as Ghanaian and other African Shops, Restaurants, Radio Stations, Travel Agents, Airlines, Money Transfer Agencies, Ghanaian Churches, Association Secretariats and Community Leaders abroad.

    The raffle will be sold at $10 for an estimated annual conservative patronage of 100,000 people, all patrons will, however enjoy discounts of up to 30% at all participating hotels and restaurants when they visit Ghana.
 
     
     
  Tourism Trade Partners Endowment Fund:  
 
  • This Fund is proposed to be set up through the contributions of notable partners in the travel and tourism industry to help with the development of tourism sites and events and promotion of the country as a preferred African destination.

  • It is proposed that all participating partners including Airlines and 3 to 5 star rated hotels will contribute 1 dollar on every business generated to and from Ghana.

  • An estimated 300,000 airline passengers and 200,000 hotel guest room nights annually, will generate a seed fund of $500,000.

  • The Fund will be managed by a select group nominated by the participating travel and tourism partners supported by professionals who will be employed to man the GATTA Secretariat.

  • In addition to contributing to this Fund, further assistance in the form of donations, i.e. Airline tickets and room nights as donations for raffle winners and in support of other promotional activities and events.  
 
     
     
  Donor Community Assistance:  
 
  • The International Donor Funding Agencies will be appealed to match funds that will be raised through “The Travel Ghana Raffle” and “The Tourism Trade Partners Endowment Fund”.

  • Project funding may be also channeled through international technical assistance programmes and voluntary services especially for community-based tourism product development and training projects.

  • An area of immediate assistance is for the preparation of regional presentations of products that will be vying for “The Golden Face of Ghana”. An amount of $75,000 will be required for a 3 month ( April-June 2006) professional productions of audio/visuals, photo exhibitions and other forms of presentations for each competing product.

  • Cultural officers of foreign missions in Ghana will be approached to provide leads to Foundations and Institutions that have the capacity to provide information and data on their country’s historic relics in Ghana and also provide technical and financial assistance towards their restoration and adaptive uses.  
 
     
     
  Corporate Sponsorships:  
 

Local, multinational and international corporate bodies will be approached for support in cash and kind to fund various aspects of the Project. In return, sponsoring establishments will have multiple benefits of product exposure and promotions to the multi faceted businesses of the tourism industry as well as corporate image building of project spin offs such as improved environmental conditions of tourism sites.

The following areas of sponsorship and donations are required:

  • Electronic and print media advertisements for the promotion of domestic and
  • international project events ($180,000)
  • Transportation; vehicles, fuel and lubricants ($175,000)
  • Office equipment and furniture ($35,000)
  • Donation/rental of Project office for 3 years ($100,000)
  • Event venue rentals and decorations ($80,000)
  • Event refreshments ($25,000)
  • Awards for beauty pageant contestants (products, scholarships, airline tickets, etc)
     
 
     
     
  Media Partnerships:  
 
  • Targeted local and international media partnerships are essential for the success of the project and partnerships will be sought to achieve the objectives.

  • Print and electronic International media partners will be identified in the tourism generating regions of USA, Europe, and other African countries to promote Ghana trough “The Travel Ghana Raffle” and other local and international promotional events to be held during the project life.

  • Media partners are expected to give discounts of up to 60% of normal charges and also defer payments till funds are raised for the project.

  • Joint promotional programmes and offshoot events for the mutual benefits of GATTA and media entities will be pursued for various aspects of “The Golden Face of Ghana Project”.

  • Partnership Agreements detailing specific areas of co-operation and mutual benefits will be signed to establish our functional relationships with the media.
